    P25RX 1 - Help Empty P25RX 1 - Help

    Post by vince48 Fri Nov 01, 2024 5:49 pm

    Greetings,
Just need a little help if possible. My P25rx (original) will not work. when I open the software, i get the "discovering device...please wait". The Led's (all) fast blink, but the P25rx never gets discovered. I've tried different USB cables, USB ports anf PC's. No joy. I'm using release 2023-05-12 21.24.
Is my p25rx just dead and useless? is there any work around or remedy? Thanks in advance for ANY help. Happy Friday

Try putting it into bootloader mode, then connect it and it should reflash the firmware. Can't remember the button sequence off the top of my head but I can look when I get home.

Do you have your P25RX connected to a WIO? If so, what do you see on the WIO screen?
    Has it been programmed?
Will it operate in stand-alone mode?
Has it previously worked? If so, same PC?

Is this the same issue again?

I agree with trying the bootloader method to reload the FW...if your USBC connector is not broken.

He meant will it work not connected to a computer, as in just using USB power and through headphones/bluetooth.

My p25rx ref freq is 39999898. Each unit may not be the same.
Each unit had a sticker shipped with it. My sticker has the unit MAC, REF Freq, Freq Offset, RSSI offset, and the bluetooth esp32 FCC ID

Thanks for the info, but my P25RX is stuck in bootloader mode and wil not operate. I'm afraid my unit is unusable.
    Thanks again

Have you tried a full erase of the p25rx flash?

At power up, hold the button down for >30 seconds until the LEDs go on (after 10 sec) then back off after about 30 seconds.
    Release the button.
Then wait 10 to 20 seconds to erase the entire flash.
    Power down.
Then power up and connect to pc.
Then see if the BTConfig connects and updates the FW.

That's the one that I was thinking of. Couldn't remember off the top of my head and hadn't had a chance to dig through my notes yet. That was what resolved mine.

Have you tried changing the USB speed on the software? I am actually the reason why that was added since I had a laptop that wouldn't work when Todd increased the speed in one of the updates, so this was added. I use the slowest speed available. I have had this reset randomly a couple of times so this is worth checking.

The LEDs "should" all turn OFF after holding down the button for >30 secs at power up.

If they are staying on after that 30 or 40 seconds, it sounds like the flash mem chip or mcu is bad.

You can try a different power cable and a different 5v supply with more amperage 2.5. And then do at least 40sec holding the button and or also hold button first then plug the power in. I had that problem to after a few hard resets it worked.
